Olympic opening ceremony fake
Today it was revealed that parts of the olympic opening ceremony was in fact fake. It was during an interview in Beijing Radio with one of the people responsible for the ceremony it was explained that the little girl singing (Lin Miaoke, 9) during the ceremony was in fact lip syncing, and the voice is in fact belonging to another girl (Yang Peiyi, 7) that was considered to be too ugly so she was replaced last minute with a girl more cute. In search for Chinese perfection they decided to combine the best voice with the best appearance. Yang says she’s still very proud to be part of the event though.
Also part of the fireworks were fake, the firework footsteps in the sky were in fact computer generated. Despite of this, the opening ceremony was very impressive I think.

disgusting. can’t believe that a young girl would hae to deal with something like this. I suppose thats just the way it is in china. for the girls sake I suppose it is good that the media is so sensored. hopefully shell never find out that the rest of the world was told she was too ugly to be shown on tv.
Let’s urge the Olympic committee to allow Yeng Peiyi to sing at the closing ceremonies!
It’s only fair to both girls.
how could you possibly believe the fireworks in the flyover were real? they were clearly CGI from the moment i saw them. i never thought for a second they were supposed to be real.
Not very surprised at these fakes!! Quite expected out of China.
This is so sad… Before we start judging the Chinese let’s take a look at why we have beauty pageants and why do we have brush up in magazine ads… Or the fact that these days we have artists that lip sync at live concerts, or some that look good but have no talent whatsover….. Aren’t we being total hypocrites here?
To be honest, I think we’re completely missing the idea of what the Olympics is all about. The Olympics is about the celebrating of the athletes who have worked years to perfect their skills at their sport.
Funny thing is: Why does it take these journalists to report all of this so many days after the ceremony?
The Ceremony in itself is meant to merge/blend the art/culture with the modern Technology – that’s art. If you can’t appreciate that, and need to bring in everything political to put the Chinese down… then you have some serious EGO problems. No country is perfect in all they do, but let’s give the Chinese their due that they have pulled off a beautiful ceremony for everyone to enjoy.
Today’s society is very focused on beauty, and I think many agree that that shouldn’t apply to 7 or 9 year-olds, but sadly it does, because adults says it does. I don’t think the ceremony would’ve been less impressive if they’d gone with the “ugly” girl though. These problems are worldwide, and not specific to China. But if you have two children with very equal voice and skills, then it’s only normal to select the better looking one to perform in an even like this, this is not uncommon also in adult popstars and backup singers.
China is very good at doing amazing synchronized performances with massive amount of people.
I totaly reject the idea of Outraged!! that it just small, not related thing.
Indeed it is very closely related. How can I believe CHINA have get every of gold metal by their true talent. How can we believe that will not fake during the competition.
It’s true though…i know which one i’d rather bang.
