I am new with all this stuff and am still confused on how to get 1080p videos streaming without lag on the ps3 with ps3 media server. Can somebody write up a guide or something. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

I agree. That's why there is a newer blog entry about PS3 Media server in the related posts list and a link here: http://blog.silverstone.nu/2008/12/17/ps3-media-server/ . It works perfectly and much faster than TVersity.

Why go through all that trouble? lol

Download and install PS3 Media Server. It will play anything your throw at it including rar and iso files with video files within. By far the best solutions. Give it a shot!

"I assume that it’s only a matter of time before Sony implements support for the x264/mkv file format, and even read RAR-archives and one can just open the file like a normal Xvid and the PS3 will do the decoding itself and then there will be no problems with server not being fast enough."

Yeah, and like it can show the group logo from the nfo instead of a thumbnail ;)

x264/mkv will be nice, however I think it directly breaks their blu-ray market, so don't think it'll happen anytime soon :)
