If you install eebunto do not go for the update to the jaunty jacalope release.
Mine hung up on the install of the update requesting that I disable the gcm service.
Upon doing that it went to command line and did not resume the installation. On reboot I get only command line. Am going to do a new install of the later version.

Hello,

Thanks for the report.

Can you tell me how long the battery last, with a "typical" usage (ie some web, document processing, music and dvd playing) ?

regards

HI
I did the same thing with my 1000he . I installed the standard version which has lot cleaner look to it. I have no knowledge and idea of linux but the installation came with all the drivers and good software so i never has to type even one command. Downloading more softwares were actually easier then windows as you just go to the add/remove programs and it shows all programs availabe and all you have to do is to click and it gets installed automatically. Now my small asus works better and faster then my dual core HP desktop. I am also using 4 workspace and rotatin cube which is very cool too.

Hi. I have been using Linux for a long time, but never as a desktop system, only as servers. And this was also first time I used Ubuntu Linux. I'm very happy with it, it works great and I have everything I need. The installation is very easy once you get it going. Ofcourse I can try to help as much as I can.

Hello, I am a new comer to the eee pc and was about to buy the same unit that you bought. I want to go with eebunto as well and I am feeling a little apprehensive. I know nothing about Linux other than it takes less processor and all the apps are free. Anyways, I want to know if you are happy with the new OS and if I needed help could I contact you for help?
thank you for the post, i am researching the eebuntu web site as well.
