This evening we had the annual tenant-owner’s association meeting and I was elected to the board at my own request, after being in the election committee before and also the webmaster. There were no surprises or discussions other than the normal ones really, but the turnout was really bad, only 7 out of 29. Keeping in mind that 15 of them are new since last year and should be more interested one would think.

Swedish passportApplied for a new passport today from the police. You need those new passports with your picture (and in the future also your fingerprint) stored on a computer chip in it if you want to go to USA I’m told, so I needed an update to be sure. The new passport will come in about 5 days. Another step towards New York City.

I googled “silverstone bbs” today, keywords from my past, to see if I could find some new information about my old Atari powered BBS and some of the guys who I had contact with back in those days, around 1991-1995.

I know there are alot of sites out there who still have lists, broken links and contact information about my old BBS and its contents, but this time I also found our old BBS intro (demo), recently uploaded and commented on, pretty fun :). As a matter of fact the phonenumber I used for the BBS is still active, but not used since many years, and I think there are still some incoming modem calls every now and then, hehe.

Silverstone BBS intro (Atari), released in March 1994: silverst.zip

I wonder what the old crew and the other SysOps of old Atari BBS’s are doing nowadays…

The holiday trip to New York City in July is now booked and paid for! I will be going there with a friend and stay for 10 days, we managed to find good a deal for a direct flight with SAS and a hotel on Manhattan only a minute walk from Times Square. It might not be the highest rated hotel but hopefully it will be good enough. I will be blogging and posting photos from the trip every day, if possible, so stay tuned for that one :).

CloverfieldWatched the movie “Cloverfield” today, it was pretty good. It’s filmed as an amateur video (Blair Witch Project meets Godzilla) which I suppose is to make the movie seem more realistic, not sure if that is working for me though. It starts out really slow, but soon enough the action strikes down hard.

The way it’s filmed with a camcorder makes this movie stand out more than it normally would, it’s likely that the reviews would be worse if it didn’t. You get the feeling of a low budget movie but it’s actually really well made with special effects.

I liked the movie but just as its best there suddenly was the ending credits scrolling, I thought they skipped a chapter. The ending is very sudden and I think they should have kept on going for atleast another 15 minutes, the movie is only about 75 minutes long. But it’s very different from other films and has its charm and twists that I like so I recommend it.

Today was a very nice early springday with blue sky and warm sun, still abit chilly winds but this must be it, no more snow now… atleast my itchy eyes and runny nose tells me that spring is finally coming. I guess a few weeks of allergies every year is a small price to pay to get the summer going, I just have to load up on antihistamines and hope those pollens will not hit me that hard.

Hello there, and welcome to Another 15 minutes. This is a blog of a 30+ year old guy living in Stockholm/Sweden and working in the IT-department of a large corporation. It will contain everything from observations in life, thoughts & ideas and discussions about IT to holiday diaries and humor. You are probably wondering about the name of the blog, so I embedded the song that inspired it, I won’t explain it further right now…
