Back in the day when I was playing Counter-Strike and attending and arranging LANs and tournaments we used to make CS movies and roadtrip movies that were very popular. I decided to upload them to YouTube. This is very much walking down memory lane for many of us, enjoy :). NoM powah!

Argh! I was trying to upload them all to YouTube but I had so many problems with music copyright violations (stupid WMG!) so I put them on Dropbox for you to download instead in its original format.

Draupner – in Action

My first Counter-Strike movie starring myself, a CS movie that was before its time with the music video style and got alot of attention for it.

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9UUhhdh1MA

Draupner – Close call defuse

Some other small movie I made for some reason with just one scene from a 2on2 match. Patience is a virtue.

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExMfFotkJq0

Clan BiTCh on Onset LAN

Clan BiTCh and Neolithic Mortalis on Onset LAN, roadtrip movie. Download here.

LAN Adventure x2 (TelgeGamers BBQ LAN & Remedy 2002)

Movie from two LAN events in one movie. Download here.

TelgeGamers Overload LAN 2003

The last big LAN that TelgeGamers organised. Download here.

pwnderoza (Puman & Draupner)

My last CS movie from 2004. Miss the days, not the game. Download here.

I decided to get it, it was on sale too. The graphics is very good, and the feeling of plane control too. I played through the campaign missions on level “hard” and actually finished the game in one evening, which is ofcourse not a good grade for a game I think. But I could always continue with online play, co-op or versus mode, which makes any game more fun I think. If it wasn’t for a huge harddrive installation (5 Gb) and short single user campaign it would have got 4 out of 5 from me for the graphics and feel of the game.

It’s mindblowing when you think about the progress made since then. When you look at the graphics possible back in the late 1980′s it’s laughable, but very nostalgic for people born in the 1970′s, like me, who used play these games. One game in particular bring back alot of memories for me, “Castle Vania”. It brings back bitter sweet memories of incredible frustration and happy simple times. I found a site some time ago where you can actually play pretty much all those old Nintendo games as they were, right from the web in your browser using Java. Just look at the graphics, hear the sounds, it makes me wonder what the hell we were thinking. But ofcourse it was state of the art back then, ah it makes me smile. Play this game, and many more at www.virtualnes.com, sometimes it’s just fun to look at them again to remember.

Castle Vania, anyone else played this game? I don’t remember it as this ugly, hehe.

Rock Band does not recognize the drums of Guitar Hero World Tour, atleast not yet. There is hopefully a patch coming for the game on PS3 to make this happen soon, as you can read here. It is unclear if Rock Band 2 will recognize the drums, but I hope it will work right out from the box when it comes. If not they will just have to fix this, and fast, since they’ve pretty much promised both these games will work with the World Tour drums if I understand the situation. But right now, I can only use the guitar and microphone with Rock Band.

A few days ago I got the MIDI-USB cable that Red Octane will send out for free to those who are having problems with the sensitivity of the drumset in Guitar Hero World Tour. On their homepage you can download a software to install on your PC and set the sensitivity of each drumpad to prevent double-hits.

When I tested the drums I now didn’t get the double-hits I used to get, perhaps my technique was improved. But I did up the sensitivity of the foot pedal so I don’t have to step on it that hard. The drumset now records every hit I do, and nothing but those hits, sweet. I also strapped on some soft styrofoam/bubblewrap under the drumstand to soften the vibrations from playing that annoyed my neighbour, I hope it makes less noise now.

The MIDI-USB cable can be ordered free of charge at Red Octanes website and the software is also found there.

Towards the end of the evening we decided to try out playing the drums on difficulty level “expert”, but with another person controlling the bass drum (the foot pedal). Removing the pedal from the main drummer proved to be a winning concept, most songs were actually pretty easy on expert when you could concentrate on just your hands. Perhaps the neighbour downstairs were less thrilled though, sorry about that.

Yesterday I picked up my complete bundle of Guitar Hero World Tour, and we had alittle afterwork at my place playing it all evening into the night. It was very fun to play four people at the same time (drums, lead guitar, base guitar and vocals). A few of the changes to World Tour from the Legends of Rock edition that we noticed pretty quick is that anyone in the band can pick up “star-power” that any other bandmember can use, and that’s the only thing you can do to save eachother from sucking, since the gig is over if only one bandmember fails to keep up his part of the show.

Also I think, atleast so far, the songs are not so good, there are a handful that are very nice, but most of them I had never heard, but there will probably be a few more when I unlock them. One can also create rockers that looks like you, features and clothes etc, but it took too long so we didn’t bother with it yesterday when we were eager to start playing.

Overall I think it’s a very nice game and I will have lots of fun with it and learn to play the drums even better than I did now :). I will probably post some more about this game in the future also.

The idea and gameplay of the game is just like what you’d expected.

The plot is that the Russians as a last desperate attempt to rule the world used a time machine invented by a scientist (played by Peter Stormare, he always plays Russians) to travel back in time to kill Albert Einstein to prevent the atomic bomb to ever get developed and fall in the hands of the Americans. However, when they return to present time, this action changed alot more than they expected, and not necessarily to the better…

The game is OK, but it feels kind of cartoonish (and over-acting in the scenes in campaign mode), something that seems to be popular these days with Battlefield Heroes and all the Lego-games etc. However it’s easy to kill a few hours with this game. Something I would like to see though is a possibility to limit a battlefield to only use ground units, and no super-weapons, in skirmish mode for example, because I think it’s fun to build up a nice planned base and its defenses before launching my own attack.

I’m so looking forward to this! This fall both Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 are released, both with guitar, microphone and drumset. But what are the differences between the games and what will I get? I have read that Guitar Hero is generally a more difficult (and fun) game to play, if you master GH on “hard” level, one would have no problem with RB at all. GH WT also adds new elements to the guitar playing experience with chords that does not all start and end at the same time, but you have to “strum” between them. The compatibility between the games and instruments may differ abit depending on platform, you can play both games with either instruments, but some features might be disabled, like the fifth drumtrack on GH WT if you don’t have their drumset, atleast so I’ve heard. However GH WT have better instruments than RB.

Guitar Hero World Tour

Touch sensitive pads on guitar for tapping etc.

Online career mode.

Drums are quiter than Rock Band’s.

About 85 songs (download and upload of custom tracks).

Rock Band 2

Lots of downloadable songs and albums.

About 80 songs (up to 200 downloadable).

Backwards compatibility with instruments and songs.

I already have Guitar Hero 3 (Legends of Rock) so I have now pre-ordered Guitar Hero World Tour, even though Rock Band have better songs, but WT seems like a better game. I’m looking forward to World Tour very much :) – about 3 weeks left and counting. I’ll be back with a review of it.

The first impression was that the graphics was maybe not as awesome as I’ve thought, but it is still pretty cool. Also the environment is very nice and the play area huge, you can run or drive around as you please over a 50 km² African savannah & rainforest, collect missions and earn money to buy better weapons, sort of like Grand Theft Auto 4. The ultimate goal is to find an infamous arms dealer and kill him.

Aiming is abit difficult, but perhaps the opposition is harder also since I started out on a more difficult level than normal. I think this game will take a long time to play through, and I bet I will get bored with driving around pretty soon, because that part is not so fun at all in this game. I like the freedom in the game where you can choose yourself howto proceed with missions, stealthy or mayhem. I still haven’t tried the multiplayer option, so I will probably be back with a report on that one later.
