The invasion

Watched “The invasion” today, a movie about people getting infected by an alien micro organism, coming to earth with a crashing space shuttle, and changing them in their sleep. Soon almost everyone is infected and the rest must try to get away, and stay awake. It’s an OK movie, but again, just like “Cloverfield” and “The happening” for example, the ending is too brief and I think it should be more scientific and less of a “zombie killing-spree”.

Crank

Saw Crank tonight, the first one, not the sequel. I wanted to see this first since the sequel takes off where the first ends. The plot is about a hitman who becomes poisoned by a drug that forces him to keep his heart rate high in order to keep alive, and basically become a big adrenaline junkie. He must find new ways to keep his adrenaline level high while seeking his revenge. The movie was an OK action movie with some funny elements, there is also some blood and gore.

Ice Age 3

Saw Ice Age 3 tonight. It’s an OK movie, a few laughs but overall pretty much predictable. If you like the first two movies you’ll like this one probably, it’s about the same. Can’t think of anything more to say about it really…

X-men origins: WolverineSaw “X-men origins: Wolverine” today and I must say it was one of the best movies I’ve seen, it’s right up there close to the top of my list of favorite movies of all time. It just kept on delivering coolness, great effects and story. No problem in keeping the concentration and focus, it was very good all the way through and the experience of special effects and sounds was great. In the movie we are following Logan (or Jimmy) from his childhood and the origin of “Wolverine”, and we also see some of the other known characters of future X-men from previous movies. There are also other mutants with very cool powers in the movie, and we get to get an understanding of how old Logan really is. The story was well presented and planned, no complaints there.

I like the X-men movies and this didn’t let me down one bit. I’m not sure if it’s that kind of a movie you want to see over and over again, but I was actually trying to find something that would force me not to give it a 5 stars out of 5. However, if I gave “Knowing” 4.5/5 I have to give this one more credit… if you like X-men, effects and good action, go and see it!

Knowing

Saw “Knowing” starring Nicolas Cage today. It’s a movie about a son and father getting their hands on a paper with strange numbers on it, written by a young girl 50 years ago. The father soon finds out that the sequence of numbers are information of future catastrophic events and soon enough they have to use this in order to survive. This is a very gripping movie that has all this ingridients of a success for me; good acting, plot with riddles and prophecies, catastrophies and end of the world story, great special effects and… aliens. I think it’s worth seeing, I was pleasently surprised when all my favorite ingridients were introduced one by one.

“Angels and demons” is the sequel to “The Da Vinci code”, also starring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. This time he is following clues in the vatican to find the location of an anti-matter container which has been stolen by a secret society to revenge the church by letting the container detonate destroying most of Rome. It’s a pretty exciting movie, filled with action that keeps you on your toes most of the time, but the instensity sometimes makes it hard to follow, especially with the dialogue being in Italian sometimes and some people not speaking English clearly.

Saw “Watchmen” today. It’s a super-hero movie which plot is during the cold war in the 1980s where the world is threatened by nuclear holocaust. A group of retired super-heroes must once again come together save mankind. The movie is pretty dark, and the heroes have lots of dark sides to their personality, even evil, which is a good thing that makes the movie abit different from others in the genre. I guess it reminds abit of “The Spirit” and “Max Payne” with how the world is portrayed. I also like the ending.
